TRI-LAKES KIDS FISHING DERBY

Tri-Lakes Lions Club is hosting the annual Tri-Lakes Kids Fishing Derby on the first Saturday of June at the lake in the Town of Palmer Lake in Northern El Paso County. The fishing tournament will begin at 8 am and conclude with presentation of awards at 11:30 am. This event is targeted for kids 4 through 14. The derby is FREE, although kids are asked to bring a non-perishable food item for donation to Tri-Lakes Cares at registration. Colorado anglers of all ages can fish without a license on this date, so parents and other chaperons are encouraged to bring their fishing gear and join in the fun. The Colorado Parks and Wildlife is stocking the lake with trout for the tournament. Registered participants will need to bring their own fishing equipment and bait. For those who do not have fishing gear, the Colorado Fish and Wildlife will bring a limited supply of rods, reels, and bait for kids.

Tournament registration will be on the East side of the lake next to the bathrooms and park pavilion. There will be fishing officials around the lake measuring fish and reporting results. Prizes will be awarded for the longest fish in three age categories. Leaderboards for each age category will be posted at the park pavilion. Come early as the Derby normally has 300 kids participate. Hundreds of fish are caught and measured each year.
